SLIPKNOT Frontman Says STONE SOUR Is Not A Side Project
July 6, 2006SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor recently spoke to AOL Music about his other band, STONE SOUR, who are scheduled to release their second album, "Come What(ever) May", on August 1.
"We don't look at it as a side project," Taylor told AOL Music. "It's an actual band so we put the same amount of energy, work and attitude into it and I think that's why people embrace it. We look at it as something we're probably going to do for a very long time."
STONE SOUR's new album was recorded at Southern California's Studio 606 in January. Though the band only recruited new drummer Roy Mayorga during the sessions, Taylor says they managed to resist the temptation of asking the studio chief, one Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS, ex-NIRVANA).
"We thought about it, but we didn't have anything that would have fit," Taylor said. "In hindsight it's really good 'cause we really wanted to put something out there that was really us."
However, Grohl did assist Taylor though in one time wasting activity: "Me and him had chain smoking contests, which is cool because we both smoke our asses off," he laughed.
